Bunbury Geographe’s inaugural Business Event Guide is now available to help the local business events sector get back on its feet as we progress through the COVID-19 crisis and drive new, size appropriate, corporate business to the region.
Developed by the Bunbury Geographe Tourism Partnership (BGTP) with funding support from the South West Development Commission, the comprehensive 80-page Guide and Summary documents highlight BunGeo business event and group venues, services, and activities.
BGTP’s Anissa Williams advised, “we are extremely pleased to be launching the BunGeo Business Event Guide to help our events, hospitality and tourism industry recover from the impact of COVID-19 and to support event planners who are organising long-lead-time events.”
“The Guide provides organisers with innovative options for small and outdoor COVID-friendly business events. Furthermore, when national and international travel and large gathering restrictions cease, BunGeo will be ready,” she said.
The Guide allows professional meeting and group organisers to understand the capacity and capability of the region when planning their events.
Importantly, the Business Event Guide also aims to inspire meeting organisers to ‘think outside the box’ in BunGeo.
“The Guide captures the true diversity of BunGeo’s destinations, experiences and venues; from Australia’s leading performance venue BREC to awesome, outdoor venues like Balingup’s Linga Longa and Mornington Springs in the Harvey region,” Ms Williams said.
The Business Event Guide represents a shift in focus towards the broader visitor economy, including both the domestic leisure and business events space, and forms part of a recovery strategy being delivered by BGTP to support the local tourism industry.
Pre COVID-19, business events were one of the most vital sectors of the visitor economy and directly contributed $35.7 billion to the Australian economy in FY19 (Business Events Council of Australia).
“Business events and group bookings have significant flow-on effects by helping to fill hotels, bars and restaurants.
“Their extended lead time is also highly appealing to small operators, allowing them to adequately plan staff and supplies.
Pre COVID-19, Bunbury’s corporate market surpassed other regions in the South West.
Ms Williams believes with an innovative COVID friendly approach, the market has further potential.
“As restrictions lift, BunGeo will be ready to welcome the lucrative business event market as it’s safe and practical to do so.
“This is a shout-out to all businesses event managers and large and small group organisers to look no further than Bunbury Geographe.
“Our natural backdrop is stunning and our passionate providers are second to none.”
